Molesworth Drive Upgrade
Work is well underway on an upgrade to the existing Molesworth Drive, consisting of road widening and the construction of two roundabouts – one at the Mangawhai Village end, plus a further one at Mangawhai Heads. This is an integral step in planning for the wider development and will provide greater connectivity and convenience for the community.
Significant planting and swales will provide treatment of any runoff. Overhead powerlines will be underground and the existing sewer transfer main will be relocated away from the road carriageway. Isolation valves will be installed to allow for any future shutdown of the line, which is not currently possible. Shared pathways will provide excellent opportunities for walking and cycling. Works are expected to be completed by the conclusion of 2020.
Provisioning of Power at Mangawhai Central
Northpower has been engaged to place existing overhead power lines underground. All new power lines will also be placed underground for safety and aesthetics of the development. It is anticipated they will complete the first stage in 2020.
